If you want bigger tree branches, apply thicker stroke weight, thinner stroke = smaller branches. Adjust the Opacity between 40-50% so it blends with the tree. Then apply these paths with the Art Brush you’ve created in the previous step. With the Pen Tool, create some wavily stroke paths and fill stroke color with green. Leave everything as default, but select Tints and Shades from the Colorization Method drop down menu. Select these 3 paths and drag it to the Brushes Library to make a New Art Brush. Repeat this step, duplicate one more path and fill it with a even lighter tone of green(4). Duplicate path(2) by ALT+Drag or Copy & Paste, vertically scale it down a bit, and change it to lighter tone of green(3). With the Pen Tool, make a path as shown below(1), fill with dark green, and apply the same Roughen effect as the previous step. Now we need to make a New Art Brush for the tree branches. You could easily make fatter trees using a bigger circle and cutting around the circle in fatter strips. Put the dowel into the candle holder and put the spiral cut circles on the top with the very centers of the circle on the top of the dowel. This will help keep the dowel straight and in place without ruining the candle holder. Use a glue dot to adhere the circle to the rim of the candle holder. To make it just a little bit more sturdy cut a circle out of a scrap of White Glitter Cardstock that will fit over the top of the candle holder and punch a smaller circle in the center that the dowel will fit into. You don't need to glue the foam in so the candle holder can be reused. Cut a small corner of floral foam and push into the opening of the candlestick.
